The North Carolina Federation of Dog Clubs (NCFDC) is a statewide non-profit organization devoted to the promotion and welfare of dogs. Founded in 1955, the Federation draws its members from more than 90 active dog clubs throughout the state. The NCFDC helps educate responsible dog owners and breeders and assists its member clubs in providing community services. The NCFDC and its members also seek to influence the passage of legislation and ordinances regarding the interests of dog owners in North Carolina.

2010 was a critical year to address proposed legislation (Senate Bill 460, SB 460) which would have adversely affecting the rights of dog owners and breeders.  However, it is likely that similar legislation will be introduced, so we need to stay vigilant.  Please see the “Action Alert” section and find out how to personally lobby your legislators.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for all participants to learn how laws are made and what we as citizens can do to influence the passage of legislation.  Thank you.
